Ally McCoist 'bad news' Brendan Rodgers Celtic confession and calls on five Rangers transfers

Ally McCoist has confessed Brendan Rodgers' Celtic return is bad news for Rangers but has told Michael Beale to add FIVE more signings to his squad.

The Hoops have shelled out to bring back their former gaffer for a second spell after Ange Postecoglou left for a crack at the English Premier League with Tottenham. He signed off on the ultimate high by winning a domestic Treble with his successor no stranger to tasting trophy wins in Glasgow during his own period in charge.

The only downside to his appointment is the band of supporters who are not happy with his return due to the nature of his exit for Leicester City back in 2019. But McCoist knows the decision from the Celtic board was a no-brainer as he is a 'top class manager'.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “Within Scottish football it’s a kind of no-brainer decision because he’s a top class coach and manager. He knows the club really well and was extremely successful before so that alone makes it an obvious choice and a pretty good choice in my book.

"However, as has been well documented, there’s a certain section of the Celtic support who made it clear they were not happy with Brendan when he left.”

Asked by Gabby Agbonlahor if it was good or bad news for Rangers, McCoist confessed: “I’d have thought it was bad news, yeah, for the reasons I’ve given. But Rangers and Michael Beale can’t afford to start thinking about what’s going on across the city. They have to concentrate on themselves and that’s bringing four or five players in.”

Host Alan Brazil added: “I wouldn’t worry about it, you’ll still finish second anyway,” to which McCoist replied: “We’ll win it this year.”
