Allure of the ocean

Since 1996, Giorgio Armani has captured the connection between man and water in the Acqua di Giò fragrance family.

A reinterpretation pays tribute to the relationship between man and sea while embodying the brand's commitment to sustainability in creating a fragrance for the future.

Firstly, the new Acqua di Giò Eau de Parfum features sustainably-sourced natural ingredients, including those whose origins are certified, ensuring their traceability.

For example, green mandarin is hand-picked in Calabria, southern Italy; sage harvested in Provence, France; and vetiver comes from Haiti.

Grown in Guatemala, patchouli is harvested through solidarity programmes, meaning that Giorgio Armani guarantees decent working conditions and fair prices for farmers, and supports access to some primary needs for the community, such as access to clean water.

Alberto Morillas is behind the creation of all Acqua di Giò fragrances, and the new version is a woody aromatic aquatic masculine composition. The master perfumer preserved the original marine signature and infused a new molecule, Yodanol, in order to maintain its freshness.

The eau de parfum opens with sparkling green mandarin, while clary sage blends with fresh lavandin and geranium bourbon, lending a masculine, floral heart.

Sustainably-sourced ingredients include green mandarin, clary sage and patchouli.

Patchouli's woody, balsamic, and earthy qualities mingle with warm cedarwood Atlas essence, and crisp, sparkling vetiver as base notes.

Giorgio Armani's respect for the environment is demonstrated in the refillable glass bottle with a dark cap, crafted from wood sustainably sourced in Europe.

The outer box is made from FSC-certified card while the refill packaging contains no cellophane.

The refill bottle attaches without a nozzle, allowing the fragrance to be effortlessly and seamlessly decanted into the original flacon.

The eco-friendly format represents a saving of 43% in glass use, 67% in metal use, and 19% in paper use, compared to using the equivalent volume of three existing 75ml spray bottles.

The creation and carbon neutral status of the fragrance underline Giorgio Armani's commitment to the planet.

Through Acqua di Giò Eau de Parfum, Giorgio Armani commits to the preservation of a vital swathe of Brazil's biodiverse Southwest Amazon forest. This is achieved via the brand's support of the South Amazon Forest Protection project, located in an area that borders Brazil's Amazonas and Acre states.

This project works to block encroaching deforestation in the area, thereby reducing carbon emissions, while ensuring sustainable timber harvests and bolstering general conservation efforts in Brazil.

It also works to improve the livelihoods of the communities, by creating job opportunities in project management and conservation, alongside supporting environmental education and safeguarding local traditional cultures.
