Allied Power acquisition to energise remote projects

Construction and engineering firm RSGx has bought Perth-based Allied Power to snare renewable energy and transmission projects with mining companies.

Announcing the acquisition on Wednesday, RSGx regional manager Michael O'Connell said joining forces would provide end-to-end power infrastructure projects and cost savings for resource companies.

"Substantial private and public investment in power transmission infrastructure is required across Western Australia to meet decarbonisation targets, so we see demand in this sector increasing considerably," he said.

Allied Power is one of the primary power line providers in WA, predominantly in remote mining areas, and has worked alongside leaders in more sustainable energy EDL and Pacific Energy.

"This is an exciting new phase for us," Allied Power director Mick Hood said.

"RSGx affords the Allied Power team significant capacity, both front office and back office, which will allow us to engage on bigger projects."

Sydney-based RSGx already has an office in Perth that oversees projects in WA, South Australia and the Northern Territory.

"Combining the two companies allows us to offer end-to-end project coverage including feasibility, procurement, design and engineering through to construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning and operations," Mr O'Connell said.

Iron ore and gold miners as well as gas and coal giants are on their combined client book.
