Alli dropped, Ndombele or Lo Celso decision - The Tottenham team Nuno should pick vs Aston Villa

Nuno Espirito Santo will be expected to make changes to his Tottenham team this weekend going on what happened in the North London Derby last Sunday.

Spurs were just not at the races from the first whistle at the Emirates and were duly punished by Mikel Arteta's men as the Gunners went 3-0 up inside the first 34 minutes.

Bouncing back on Thursday evening with a 5-1 win over NS Mura in the Europa Conference League, the Lilywhites will be hoping to make it two wins on the spin when Aston Villa make the trip to N17.

However, it will be far from straightforward with the visitors recording impressive wins over Everton and Manchester United in their past two league games.

So what team will Espirito Santo select on Sunday afternoon at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium? We got our Tottenham correspondents Alasdair Gold, Rob Guest and Emma de Duve to name the team they would like to see start.

Some players will have got plenty of confidence from Thursday night's victory against Mura, regardless of the opposition.

Oliver Skipp showed once again that he should be starting every week in the Premier League, while Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min got goals or assists after coming off the bench.

The three key decisions for Nuno Espirito Santo will come down the spine of the team.

He must decide on his centre-back pairing to face Villa, whether to go with the more defensive Japhet Tanganga at right-back or Emerson Royal.

Then in the number 10 role, if he sticks with the 4-2-3-1, he will have to decide between Giovani Lo Celso, who grabbed a goal and assist on Thursday, a fresh Tanguy Ndombele, Dele Alli or playing Lucas there with Bryan Gil on the right.

Gold's team: Lloris; Emerson, Romero, Dier, Reguilon; Hojbjerg, Skipp; Lucas, Ndombele, Son; Kane.

Nuno Espirito Santo definitely needs to make alterations to his Tottenham team after that dire display away at Arsenal.

Right now the head coach needs players who will put themselves about and fight for the cause, with Oliver Skipp showing those qualities after coming off the bench at the Emirates.

Emerson Royal also came on and did well in his 45 minutes on the pitch and it could possibly see him return to the team at right-back in place of Japhet Tanganga.

Although Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez had done well together prior to the Arsenal display, Cristian Romero and Joe Rodon impressed alongside one another against NS Mura and potentially could be the team's future centre-back partnership.

Given changes need to take place, Romero and Rodon may get the nod for the second successive game as Espirito Santo looks to find the perfect formula.

A 4-2-3-1 formation does appear to suit Spurs better and that could see Tanguy Ndombele drop out with Giovani Lo Celso operating at No.10 after impressing against NS Mura.

The return to the Premier League is a big one for Tottenham and it is a must win game for Nuno Espirito Santo. Hugo Lloris will inevitably return to the line-up after Pierluigi Gollini replaced him in the Europa Conference League.

I think it's time for Cristian Romero to find out who he works best with in the centre of defence so I would start him alongside Eric Dier, keep Sergio Reguilon at left-back and give Emerson Royal his return to the starting XI.

I want to see a 4-2-3-1 formation again and after their start to the season, I think Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg should confidently take those two holding midfielder places.

I think Giovani Lo Celso performed better than Dele Alli in the middle of the three attacking midfielders so I would give him the chance to show that it isn't just against lower level teams that he can perform.

I imagine Lucas Moura, Son- Heung-min and Harry Kane will all return to the starting line-up and after Moura and Son both got assists and Kane got a hattrick on Thursday night, hopefully that will give them some confidence going into the game against Villa.

de Duve's team: Lloris; Emerson, Dier, Romero, Reguilon; Skipp, Hojbjerg; Lucas, Lo Celso, Son; Kane
