Allen Robinson turns NBA reporter, has ‘sources’ on where Andre Drummond is going

Free-agent wide receiver Allen Robinson put on his reporter hat and delivered some seriously juicy NBA (!) news on Tuesday.

“Per sources,” he tweeted, “Andre Drummond will be signing with the nets. They get some reinforcement on the defensive end and the glass. Look for them to still be active around the trade deadline lol.”

Wow. That is quite a scoop if he’s right. You have to wonder just who those sources are.

Now, here’s the thing, and I don’t mean to poke holes in what the Chicago Bears free agent has to say, but … are we so sure of that?

For one, Drummond is still on the trade block with the Cleveland Cavaliers. They could still deal him and his expiring deal to a team not named the Nets before the upcoming trade deadline. Robinson thinks he’ll sign with Brooklyn, implying the Cavs already know they don’t have a buyer.

And then there’s the fact that the Nets JUST signed Blake Griffin, so they’re already pretty loaded up and down the roster. Would they really need Drummond to take away minutes from the emerging Nicolas Claxton? Or from DeAndre Jordan?

Or perhaps he’s saying Drummond will sign with Brooklyn in the offseason? That would make more sense.

We’ll see if Robinson’s report comes true, and if so, good work.
