Talking for the first time since his agent blasted the Bears’ red-zone strategy on Twitter during the team’s “Monday Night Football” loss, Allen Robinson said he doesn’t “really get too caught up into that.”
“Whatever’s called, I run what’s called,” the Bears receiver said Monday. “I’ve said that since Day 1. Hopefully in these next six games, we can get down there, first, and get some more red zone opportunities. Then I should come away with more red zone touchdowns.”
Robinson has only seven red zone targets, which ranks third on the team. Tight end Jimmy Graham, by contrast, has 13.
Robinson is a prominent weapon when the Bears are playing on the other 80 yards of the field. He’s tied for fourth in the NFL with 95 targets. Only the Chargers’ Keenan Allen, the Bills’ Stefon Diggs and the Cardinals’ DeAndre Hopkins have more.
“You’ve got to trust in your coaches,” Robinson said. “You’ve got to trust and believe that the things that they’re calling and dialing up are going to be successful. … For me, I have that trust in the coaches.”
