Chicago Bears wide receiver Allen Robinson has been everything the Bears hoped for when they signed him to a three-year, $42 million deal back in 2018. Now in the last year of that deal, Bears fans have been left to wonder when an extension for A-Rob will get ironed out.
GM Ryan Pace has traditionally waited until the eve of the season to ink critical players to new deals. Eddie Goldman and Cody Whitehair are recent examples of this. So when Pace failed to get Robinson locked up before Week 1, sirens began to go off.
Those sirens reached maximum volume Tuesday on Twitter when Robinson washed his social media accounts clean of any Bears references.
No pictures. Nothing about the team in his bio. It’s like he’s preparing to move on.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Robinson has grown frustrated with Chicago’s contract proposals and is feeling disrespected at their valuation of his services.

According to Pelissero, Robinson doesn’t think the Bears’ offers reflect his fair market value. Assuming A-Rob wants to be paid like a top-five wide receiver, his demands will be north of $20 million per season.
Remember: The Bears have a decision looming on QB Mitch Trubisky, who’s also playing on an expiring contract. Even if they choose to use the franchise tag on him, he’ll account for a large chunk of 2021’s salary cap, which complicates the way a Robinson extension is structured.
It’d be hard to imagine a scenario where Chicago doesn’t want Robinson back. Instead, it’s likely they’re trying to figure out how to bring him back with so much uncertainty around quarterback in 2021.
