Allegiant Stadium video boards fully operational for first time and Jon Gruden delivers message to construction crew

The two-minute drill. That’s what they’re calling the finishing touches left on Allegiant Stadium where the Raiders are scheduled to play this season.

One of the recent developments was the video boards, which as of today were fully operational with video and sound. It’s one of many signs that the stadium is nearing completion so it was fitting that Jon Gruden, from his office in the team’s new headquarters up the street, used the board to deliver a message to the construction crew in the stadium.

“I just have to tell you, the stadium looks freaking awesome,” Gruden said to the workers. “It’s the greatest thing I’ve ever seen. And I just want to congratulate all you workers on an incredible accomplishment during adversity. It’s the two minute drill. You’ve done 99% of the work. Maybe 97% of the work. I just challenge you to finish like a champ.”

The adversity of which Gruden speaks is the crew having to work during a pandemic. So, he ended the video, reminding the crew to be safe and wear their masks, which the crew seemed to be doing, most of whom had bandanas over their nose and mouth.

The stadium is still on schedule to be completed by the end of July. The first game is currently scheduled to be the preseason matchup with the Cardinals on August 27.
