A man charged over a shooting in Sydney's south west was found hiding out in a roof cavity almost a month after the attack.

A 37-year woman suffered serious injuries after being shot in Condell Park on January 12 and was driven by an unidentified man to a nearby hospital.

The man then ran away, leaving her and the Mercedes Benz car in an ambulance bay as paramedics rendered assistance.

The woman remains in hospital more than four weeks on from the shooting, receiving treatment for a severed spine and organ damage.

On Friday, 33-year-old Condell Park man was arrested at a home in Picnic Point.

Police say he'd been hiding in the roof of the Doris Street home.

He was charged with a string of offences including discharging a firearm causing grievous bodily harm and using an unauthorised pistol.

He was refused bail and scheduled to face court on Saturday.
