Alleged sex offender fled Salford after telling police he would hand himself in

An alleged sex offender has been arrested after telling police he would surrender – then fleeing Salford

Officers say the man was eventually located in another police force area.

He allegedly told police he would hand himself in “on his terms”.

He then fled Salford, according to GMP, but was found after 24 hours of searching.

He is now back behind bars, a spokesman for the force said.

In a post, GMP Little Hulton, Walkden, Ellenbrook and Worsley said: “This male is a registered sex offender who told GMP Transport Unit via the phone, he would surrender on his terms.

“He then fled Salford. Within 24 hours of hunting, we arrested him hiding in another police force area... on OUR terms.

“He's now back behind bars.”
