Alleged rapist pleads guilty to false imprisonment

Police at the Blair Athol reserve where the incident allegedly occurred.

A man charged over the alleged sexual assault of a young girl in a public toilet block in Adelaide's north last month has pleaded guilty to some of the charges against him.

The 32-year-old man, whose identity is suppressed under state law, was charged with three counts of indecent assault, two counts of rape and one count of false imprisonment.

Police alleged he confronted the girl while she was on the playground at the Blair Athol Sports Community Club about 6:00pm on April 3.

It is alleged the man then lured her into a toilet block and sexually assaulted her, but had left the scene before police arrived.

Today, he pleaded guilty in the Adelaide Magistrates Court to all of the counts of indecent assault and to false imprisonment.

He is yet to enter a plea over the rape charges.

The accused man was arrested 15 days after the alleged incident following a police campaign, including doorknocking in the area, to locate a suspect.

At the time, police thanked the public for assistance provided, and said more than 50 calls had been made to Crime Stoppers about the incident.

They dropped charges against a 29-year-old man initially suspected of being the perpetrator.

The case will return to court in September.
