Alleged rapist caught in Mt Gambier

Police are extraditing an accused rapist to Victoria from South Australia, after he fled to avoid a court appearance.

Nicholas John Goldsack was found in a youth hostel at Mt Gambier last night.

The 22-year-old Shepparton man appeared in the Mt Gambier Magistrates Court this morning, where he agreed to his extradition.

Police allege he raped two girls, aged 16 and 17, in Ballan and Sunshine last week.

Editor's note 10/12/20: Nicholas Goldsack was subsequently committed to stand trial in the County Court on one charge of rape. On June 2, 2009, he was found not guilty.
