Alleged rape victim too sore to sit: mum

Tristan Sailor (R) is accused of having sex with woman either unconscious or too drunk to consent. (AAP)

A woman allegedly raped by former NRL player Tristan Sailor was in so much pain the next day that she couldn't sit down properly, her mother has told a NSW court.

Tristan Sailor is accused of having sex with the woman while she was either unconscious or too drunk to consent after a night out with friends in October 2020.

Sailor, 23, has pleaded not guilty to two rape charges and maintains the sex was consensual.

Giving evidence at the District Court trial on Wednesday, the alleged victim's mother recounted the call during which her daughter told her she thought she had been date raped.

The then-24-year-old had returned to her unit in Wolli Creek with Sailor and two others the night before, and said she remembered taking two sips of her drink then nothing else, her mother said.

She told her mother she had woken the next morning, naked and bleeding from her bottom.

Her mother said the alleged victim was "spaced out" and "zombie-like" as she was asked questions about the night before.

"I was getting a delayed response, like she's not realising what's happening to her or not comprehending it, like I was talking to a person that was in shock," she told the court.

After driving up from the Shoalhaven region, her mother met the shaking and "despondent" woman in the waiting room of a Sydney hospital where she would be examined.

"Did she say at one stage, 'I'm in pain, I can't sit down'?" the prosecutor asked the woman's mother.

"She did."

"Did you notice the way she was sitting whilst she was in the waiting room with you?"

"She would sit to the side, on one of the side cheeks of her buttocks. She couldn't sit flat.

"(She) sat like that the whole time and we had to wait a while."

The court earlier heard from a friend of the woman, who also recalled her friend telling her she'd woken up with a bleeding bottom.

The alleged victim had said she had been "so pissed" and completely blacked out - something that had never happened to her before.

The friend, who had known the alleged victim for three years at that point, said she was never overly drunk.

"She always knew her limits."

Over the course of the day, the woman spoke - over the phone and online messages - with the alleged victim, who she also recalled was "spaced out" and monotonous.

"Now that I think about it ... it actually was f***ed. Like I could not have been in sound mind while we were doing it," the alleged victim said in one message sent to her friend.

The court has previously heard evidence from another friend who found the woman naked and lying on the floor of her bedroom after Sailor left the unit.

Asked if she was OK, the woman responded only with grunting noises, before vomiting on her friend as she was lifted into bed.

The trial continues.
