A man who allegedly abducted and raped a 12-year-old girl in Sydney's north still faces his most serious charges while others will be dropped.
Brett John Callaghan, 38, faces three counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 14 as well as a charge of supplying a prohibited drug to a child under 16.
Five charges will be withdrawn which include for grooming a child under 14 for unlawful sexual activity and sexually touching another person without consent.
The Dural man was arrested in April 2020, after the girl was found at his home.
She was reported missing when she failed to meet her parents after a Hornsby Westfield shopping trip with her friends on April 28.
Detectives said the girl travelled from the shopping centre to a Thornleigh skate park where she was seen leaving with a young girl and a man she did not know.
Both children were unknown to each other but Callaghan may have used the other young girl to build trust with his victim, police say.
The 12-year-old allegedly agreed to travel with Callaghan to his Dural property, where police allege she was sexually assaulted before being found about 1.15am the next day.
She was also sexually assaulted by Callaghan while in his vehicle, police say.
After his case came before Parramatta Local Court on Thursday, Callaghan remains behind bars until his next court date on February 4.
