An alleged drug driver accused of striking and killing two young mechanics on the Sunshine Coast has faced court this morning.
Warana woman Kelly Renee Liddicoat, 43, is facing one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance and one count of driving while under the influence.
Police allege Ms Liddicoat's sedan struck Lleyton Bartlett, 22, from Baringa, and his colleague, Aaron Pitt, 25, from Currimundi, on April 21 at 3:30pm.
The pair were working on a broken-down bus on the side of Nambour Connection Road at Woombye.
Both men suffered critical injuries and were transported to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital where they later died.
Ms Liddicoat sat trembling in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court this morning, supported by family, while the family and friends of Mr Bartlett and Mr Pitt were visibly emotional, watching on from the public gallery.
The men were employed by CDC Queensland which is contracted to Translink.
Translink has previously paid tribute to the pair saying the company was "extremely saddened" about the incident.
"This is tragic news and we send our condolences to the families and staff involved," a spokesman said.
Ms Liddicoat's appearance was brief, lasting just a few minutes, as her bail was extended.
Her lawyer requested an adjournment so police prosecutors could prepare a brief of evidence.
The case is due before court again on August 19.
