A 33-year-old woman has been charged over the alleged hit-and-run murder of a police officer north of Brisbane.

Skye Anne Wallis was arrested last night when she surrendered to Caboolture police following a three-day search.

Police allege Ms Wallis was driving a stolen Hyundai Kona, which hit and killed 53-year-old Senior Constable David Masters, who was laying road spikes to try and stop the car.

Ms Wallis is facing charges of murder, arson, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of weapons.

Ms Wallis did not appear at the Caboolture Magistrates Court but was represented by a lawyer.

Detective Superintendent Craig Morrow said Ms Wallis handed herself in after officers negotiated with her lawyer.

"We were able to make contact with a family member in the UK," he said.

"That family member ended up calling us back late last night to give us the name of a solicitor we could call to negotiate a surrender."

Ms Wallis was taken to the hospital after entering police custody, Detective Superintendent Morrow said.

"Once she did present at the police station, she believed she had glass in her eye," he said.

"She was taken to the hospital for that purpose to have her eye inspected but no further glass was located."

Ms Wallis' matter is due back in court on August 12.
