Alleged drink driver arrested after Mercedes crashes into dog-washing vehicle

Police arrested the alleged driver in a nearby street. (ABC News)

An Adelaide mother who was allegedly four times the legal alcohol limit has been arrested after crashing a Mercedes into a dog-grooming van that was in operation at the time, police say.

Police allege the 31-year-old Seaton woman was driving with her child when the car hit a Jim's Dog Wash vehicle at Pennington, in Adelaide's north-west, at about 6:45pm on Friday.

Police said the van's owner was washing a dog at the time and she suffered minor injuries in the collision.

The dog was unharmed, police said.

The driver of the Mercedes sedan allegedly ran from the scene with her child, but neither was injured.

They were found in nearby King Street, but police said the woman "initially refused to go with police for a breath test" and was arrested.

She was then breath tested at Port Adelaide Police Station and allegedly "recorded a positive reading of 0.200" — four times the legal limit.

She was charged with offences including leaving the scene of a crash, driving under the influence and failing to exchange details.

She was bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on October 27.
