The man accused of killing two Kissimmee, Fla., police officers, Everett Glenn Miller, faced a judge Sunday afternoon for the first time since his arrest Friday night.
The judge read Miller charges of premeditated first-degree murder, resisting arrest and carrying a concealed weapon. Miller is being held without bail at the Osceola County Jail.
He was arrested late Friday on suspicion of fatally shooting Kissimmee police Sgt. Richard "Sam" Howard and Officer Matthew Baxter. The officers were conducting a routine stop when Miller, a Marine veteran, opened fire about 9:30 p.m., police said.
Neither officer had a chance to shoot at Miller, Kissimmee police Chief Jeff O'Dell said.
Baxter was killed. Howard died Saturday at Osceola Regional Medical Center. Miller hasn't been arrested in his death, but a Kissimmee police spokeswoman said additional charges will be filed.
In court, Miller spoke only to tell the judge his name and date of birth.
Meanwhile, detectives in Kissimmee are still working on piecing together the events of Friday evening.
Police said early Sunday that they are seeking someone named Maribel Gonzalez King as a "person of interest" in the investigation.
Police didn't define the term or provide other details, but department spokeswoman Stacie Miller said King is not a suspect. Investigators said they want to speak with her because she is known to frequent the neighborhood where the shooting happened.
