The Toronto Blue Jays fan suspected of hurling a can of beer at Orioles outfielder Hyun Soo Kim during Tuesday's wild-card game turned himself in Thursday night, Toronto police said.
Kenneth Pagan, 41, was charged with mischief and will face up to two years in jail if convicted, said David Hopkinson, a spokesman for Toronto police.
Pagan, from Hamilton, Ontario _ a city outside of Toronto _ turned himself in to police at 7:15 p.m., Hopkinson said.
Pagan, identified as a copy editor for Canadian news publications, told the Toronto Sun this week that he did not throw the can of beer and that he looked forward to telling his side of the story.
On Wednesday, police put out pictures of a suspect and urged him to turn himself in.
The can of beer thrown from the stands landed near Kim as he ran to catch a fly ball in the outfield during the Orioles' 5-2, extra-inning loss in the single-elimination wild-card game.
It prompted apologies from Blue Jays fans and a $1,000 reward for information on the suspect, offered by the Toronto Sun.
Pagan was charged and released, Hopkinson said. He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 24.
