Alleged assailant arrested following home invasion near Queanbeyan

A man has been charged following a break-in at Jerrabomberra last month which left the occupant of the home in hospital.

An 18 year-old Queanbeyan man is alleged to have broken into the home at 3.30am on October 16, lashing out at its occupant.

Police have heard the 39 year-old occupant of the property was woken by noise inside his home and left his bedroom to investigate.

The man has told police he was confronted by the stranger, who allegedly stabbed him and ran from the address.

Emergency services were called and the man was taken to Woden Hospital in a stable condition, where he has since been released from.

The teenager alleged to be responsible was arrested at a home on Sassafras Crescent in Queanbeyan on Friday and charged for the break-and-enter and the assault.

He has been refused bail and will appear in Wollongong Local Court on October 24.
