Alleged armed robber chased down by gardai after tense stand-off in North Dublin

Gardai were locked in an armed stand-off after chasing down a man suspected of robbing a shop in North Dublin.

A man allegedly stormed a premises on Strand Street in Skerries before threatening a woman with a gun and making off with cash.

Gardai immediately began an intense search which lasted into the next day when they received a report of a man acting suspicious at Balbriggan Harbour.

A number of members are seen confronting a man who then jets across the sand between the boats.

Gardai give chase before catching him and bringing him into custody.

A garda spokesperson said:" Gardaí at Skerries Co Dublin are investigating a robbery at a retail premises on Strand St Skerries at approximately 4pm on Saturday, May 11th ’19.

"A lone male entered the shop armed with what was described as a firearm, he demanded cash and left the premises with an undisclosed amount of money. No injuries were sustained during the incident.

Gardai investigating after 13-year-old stabbed in North Dublin shop 

"A 31 year old man was arrested in Balbriggan in connection with this investigation yesterday, Sunday May12th ’19.

"Investigations are continuing."
