Allanfield incident: Police investigate after body found near railway tracks in Leith

Police are investigating after the body of an unidentified person was found near railway tracks in Edinburgh.

Ambulances and police vehicles were seen at Allanfield in Leith on Wednesday morning.

British Transport Police say they're working to establish the person's identity and the full circumstances of the incident.

Officers remained at the scene later on Wednesday morning.

A spokesman said: "BTP officers were called at 8.05am on July 3 following a report of a body being found near a section of rail track in Allanfield, Edinburgh.

"Officers are currently at the scene and are working to establish the person’s identity and the circumstances behind the incident."
