Allan Saint-Maximin to Arsenal: Social media hint, transfer conditions, contact made with agent

Allan Saint-Maximin has been one of the standout players in the Premier League this season.

The Newcastle winger has impressed with his skill and end product since joining Steve Bruce's side from Nice last summer, and his form has reportedly attracted interest from across Europe.

Arsenal are said to be one of the sides eyeing the Frenchman ahead of a possible bid in the summer transfer window.

But how likely is he to leave St James' Park?

Here's all we know on the winger's future and what's been said about him in the media.

Arsenal 'make contact'

According to French outlet Le 10 Sport, Arsenal and Napoli have both contacted the winger’s entourage to gauge whether he would be keen on a move.

The report does state, however, that neither side have made an official bid to Newcastle for the attacking midfielder.

Newcastle paid £16million for Saint-Maximin last year, but his impressive form coupled with the fact he still has five years remaining on his contract could force interested clubs to part with a sizeable fee to lure the winger away from the north east.

Transfer conditions

Saint-Maximin has been involved in four goals in four matches since the season has restarted, and according to the  Northern EchoArsenal  scouts have been impressed with the Frenchman.

However, the report also claims that Arsenal’s move will depend on whether Newcastle’s takeover goes through as the club’s new Saudi owners will be keen to keep Saint-Maximin at St James' Park.

Steve Bruce statement

When asked about the possibility of Saint-Maximin being sold this summer, Newcastle boss Steve Bruce played down the chance of selling his star player.

"There’s no chance of Allan leaving. No chance at all," Bruce said.

"I wouldn’t put a price on Allan now. ‘When you look at the level of money we bought him for, he’s arguably the best pound-for-pound signing in the Premier League.

"You show me another better. When you look at what he’s produced for us, we have probably got the buy of the season. He’s blessed with unique skills, which he’s got in abundance."
