Allan Saint-Maximin to appear at MetroCentre to showcase his Helios card game

Newcastle United forward Allan Saint-Maximin will be showcasing his card game, Helios, in the MetroCentre on Saturday.

The French winger devised the game, which is inspired by Greek mythology, and released it in early 2022. He will be hosting a take-over of the MetroCentre's pop-up space, Sook, on Saturday August 20 to promote his creation.

Saint-Maximin said: “I’m excited to return to MetroCentre for a one-day pop-up at Sook. Since I launched Helios in January, awareness is growing - but this event gives me an opportunity to showcase the game to people in person and get them excited about it. I’m expecting to see a lot of fans there, and hope to see avid card game enthusiasts too.”

The main aim of Helios is to get rid of cards by being "bold" with strategy. In a tournament hosted by Saint-Maximin in Newcastle in January, succesful players won a combined £7,000 in cash. Events have also been held in Monaco and Dubai.

The showcase opens at 11am at the MetroCentre, running until 7pm. As well as an appearance from Saint Maximin, there will be game demonstrations and giveaways.

John Hoyle, founder of Sook, added: “Our spaces provide businesses of all sizes with a flexible opportunity to create a pop-up shop or experience to meet fans and potential customers in person. There is still an absolute need for bricks and mortar for brands, but not necessarily on a daily basis. We have seen many brands drive queues out of the door during their takeovers, and I’m pretty sure with the legend that is Allan Saint-Maximin returning to Sook this weekend it’s going to be a busy day.”

Helios is currently sold out online. Its website says new sets will 'drop' soon and a free-to-play app is being developed.
