Allan Saint-Maximin spotted at Newcastle United training ground ahead of transfer

Allan Saint-Maximin has been spotted at Newcastle United's training ground ahead of completing his move from Nice.

Saint-Maximin has been on the Magpies' radar for some time now and ChronicleLive reported on Thursday that the Frenchman had agreed personal terms on a deal worth an initial £16.4m.

Although club sources have been staying tight-lipped, Saint-Maximin has arrived at Benton to undergo a medical and complete the final stages of his move.

The 22-year-old is set to become Newcastle's second signing of the summer following the club-record arrival of Joelinton last month.

Saint-Maximin, who speaks fluent English, has been working hard all summer in anticipation of the move and was one of the few positives from Nice's 6-1 defeat to Burnley earlier this week.

How Steve Bruce integrates the forward into his line-up will be interesting.

Bruce has used his favoured 3-5-2 formation in his first two friendlies in charge, against Preston and Hibs, and Miguel Almiron partnered Joelinton up front at Easter Road.

Although Bruce refused to directly comment on Saint-Maximin after that 3-1 win against Hibs on Tuesday night, the 58-year-old has previously gone on the record to declare their interest.

"It’s somebody we have identified and we will see what happens," he said.
