Allan Saint-Maximin's superb response to a fan who asked him to join Liverpool

Allan Saint-Maximin has responded to calls from a Liverpool fan to move to Anfield.

The Newcastle forward caused the Reds problems as United drew 1-1, courtesy of Joe Willock's late strike.

And Saint-Maximin was back on social media after the game, teasing one Reds fan who had reacted with delight to Newcastle's first equaliser being disallowed.

But he was more serious when another proposed a swap deal with Saido Mane.

A Reds fan wrote: "Can you come to Liverpool and Mane goes the other way.

Saint-Maximin replied: "I know you think it’s a nice message to me but I don’t like this. Be respectful to him please you are ungrateful, he did and he’s doing a lot for Liverpool, there still a long way before I could reach his level."

At the last count, some 7,000 fans had liked the message - with Saint-Maximin winning friends among Liverpool fans for the classy nature of the post.

United fans, meanwhile, are just thankful that their attacking talisman signed a long-term contract earlier this season and remains committed to the club, whatever the interest in him.
