Allan Saint-Maximin's cryptic social media post has got fans speculating

Allan Saint-Maximin posted an intriguing message on his Twitter account yesterday evening.

A screen grab of a famous Albert Einstein quote appeared as a Fleet on the forward's Twitter account reading: 'If you do the same thing over and over again you cannot ever expect a different outcome'.

Some fans on social media speculated about the possibility of the quote being a reference to Newcastle United's business model.

"Maxi gets it", posted one on Twitter, along with a grab of the original Fleet. "Looks like a dig at Ashley", said another. Other fans wrote: "he must know we aren't spending big" and "Allan Saint-Maximin sends his message to Steve Bruce ahead of the new season."

In June, the forward told TalkSPORT : "I don't want to fight one more year against relegation or being safe," in June. "I hope we do more to have more ambition and try to do everything to win trophies and fight for the higher places. It will be great.

"If we have more players like Joe Willock scoring goals this can change so many things.

"Newcastle aren't in the right place we should not be fighting against relegation and should be going for the top 10 and looking for a trophy."

Saint-Maximin is a sporadic user of Instagram and Twitter, he has 556k followers on Instagram and 240k on Twitter. Choosing to upload the Einstein quote as a Fleet is slightly more subtle approach than a standard social post. A Fleet is a full screen video or photo message that appears for just 24 hours and a lesser used social media tool having only been introduced by Twitter last November.
