Allan Saint-Maximin reveals his 'big dream' at Newcastle United after signing a new deal at the club

Allan Saint-Maximin wants to 'follow in the footsteps' of Newcastle United legend David Ginola after penning a new deal at the club.

The French winger committed his future until 2026 on Wednesday evening and said he 'felt at home' on Tyneside.

Saint-Maximin has quickly cemented himself as a fans' favourite on Tyneside and, like Ginola, has fans living on the edge of their seats with his direct style of play.

Ginola was part of a Newcastle side that almost won the Premier League, and qualified for the Champions League after two successive second-placed finishes in the Premier League in 1996 and 1997.

And now the 23-year-old is keen to leave a similar legacy on Tyneside to the one his compatriot created in the nineties.

"I love Newcastle and everything it stands for on and off the pitch," Saint-Maximin said on his Instagram account

"It feels like home to me now, I feel like I'm a part of this city. More than that, I now have the big dream of following in the footsteps of David Ginola, I want to leave my mark here like he did!

"Knowing the Newcastle project, I now know that it is possible!

"Thank you Newcastle to believe in me, thanks to the supporters for this amazing connection between us!

"I will do everything I can do to achieve great things with this Club! You guys deserve it and the best is coming!"

Saint-Maximin also thanked Newcastle's Head of Recruitment, Steve Nickson, for the role he played in convincing him to commit his future to Newcastle.

"Thank you Steve Nickson, thank you for all the long discussions about football and life," he added.

"Thank you for taking the time to understand me, thank you for explaining and convincing me why this Newcastle project is an incredible opportunity.

"I am very grateful for what you have done."
