Allan Saint-Maximin reassures Newcastle fans as he reacts to a 'very important' move by the club

Allan Saint-Maximin has revealed he is 'so happy' at Newcastle United after the Magpies completed the signing of Joe Willock.

It took Newcastle 43 days to make a breakthrough in the transfer window, but Steve Bruce finally landed his number one target last week.

Although Newcastle initially explored the possibility of taking Willock on loan again, the black-and-whites have ended up signing the Arsenal midfielder on a permanent basis.

Bringing Willock back on a six-year deal, and making the Londoner the second most expensive player in the club's history, has sent an important message to both supporters and the squad.

While Newcastle, technically, have not improved their squad, the Magpies have at least managed to keep the group together which finished last season so strongly.

Willock has his best years ahead of him and the 21-year-old is desperate to build on a remarkable first spell on Tyneside, when he became the youngest player in Premier League history to score in seven consecutive games.

Saint-Maximin previously said that 'it's really important to have more players like Joe Willock in the team' to challenge for a place in the top 10 and the Frenchman was understandably delighted to see his friend return to the club.

"This is very important for me because I feel really good with him," he told NUFC TV.

"He's a great player, a great person, and he scores so many goals so this is so important for Newcastle.

"That's why I say we need more players like him, like these guys, like Jonjo [Shelvey]. I'm so happy to be part of this team."
