Allan Saint-Maximin deletes cryptic hint as Newcastle United star 'closes in on new contract'

Newcastle United star Alan Saint-Maximin has left supporters guessing after leaving a cryptic clue and then deleting it on his social media account.

The Frenchman has started the season in red-hot form after starring in the Magpies ' 3-1 win over Burnley before the international break.

Saint-Maximin scored an incredible solo goal before putting in the hard work down the wing and laying the ball on a plate for Callum Wilson to seal the win at St James' Park.

Since signing for Newcastle last summer Saint-Maximin has established himself as a crucial component to Steve Bruce's side, with his electric pace and unpredictable skill a key asset to the team.

So, when Saint-Maximin dropped the cryptic egg timer emoji on his social media channels, which then was deleted an hour later, with fans were left wondering what could be on the cards.

It has been reported that the Frenchman has agreed a new six-year contract with Newcastle, which will no doubt delight supporters.

Saint-Maximin initially penned a six-year deal at St James' Park and this new deal will be just-rewards for a fantastic opening 14 months in English football.
