Allan McGregor tests his Rangers knowledge as goalkeeper makes 'old age' quip in hilarious quiz round

Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor had his Ibrox knowledge tested in a hilarious clip.

The 39-year-old goalkeeper’s long career would presumably make him more knowledgeable on the champions than anyone else in the current squad.

But he was put through the wringer answering a series of Gers and Scottish football trivia.

He got off to a bad start in the clip posted to Rangers TV when asked to name the other goalscorer aside from Billy Dodds and Shota Arveladze in his Rangers debut.

Struggling to recall the answer, McGregor said: “You’re winding me up man, honestly! It’s started already.

“I can’t remember last week.”

McGregor then nailed his next question - naming John Hughes as the Ayr captain on the losing side when he picked up his first winner’s medal in 2002 - but it took some time.

“Took me half an hour, but we got there,” he remarked.

McGregor isn't one to take himself too seriously and he quipped he must have lost his quiz touch in his advancing years.

He added: “How bad am I! I used to be good. Old age kicking in.”

Struggling in the later rounds, the veteran was reminded that Ianis Hagi was waiting outside for his own quiz before being hurried along with the Countdown theme tune.

He finished on a respectable eight but admitted he'd never have been able to name the first Argentinian to play for Rangers - Gabriel Amato.
