Allan McGregor's tearful Rangers interview emerges as he declares 'I love this club more than anything'

Allan McGregor choked back tears after delivering an emotional speech at the Rangers Player of the Year awards night.

The veteran goalkeeper claimed the prize, as voted for by the light blue legions, following an outstanding campaign to help romp to the club’s first league title in a decade.

And footage has emerged of McGregor at the end of season event which supporters were able to buy a virtual pass for.

It was hosted by regular Rangers TV presented Emma Dodds and, with manager Steven Gerrard on stage, McGregor was welling up as he accepted his prize.

The 39-year-old is one of only two survivors from the last Gers team to win major silverware after a trophy-laden first spell at the club where he came through the youth ranks.

And he said on Rangers TV: “I love it (the club) more than anything else, honestly. I’m very emotional. It means so much to me. It does.

“And to bring 55 home… I’m getting emotional but we’ve done unbelievable this season.

“For three years I’ve dreamed of this day and we’ve got it. And we absolutely dominated it.

“This award is for everybody. We did this - every single person at the club. We did 55. Not just eleven players - everybody at the club. And we all should celebrate.”

Gerrard - who gave the Manager’s Player of the Year award to Connor Goldson - added: “These goalies are a different breed - trust me. But we’ve got a special one here.

“I’m sure Greegsy will back me up here but a special mention to Colin Stewart as well who works with him every single day and Jon McLaughlin and Andy Firth who push him every day to be the best version of himself.”

James Tavernier was voted Players’ Player of the Year and won the Sam English Award for top scorer, Ianis Hagi was named Young Player of the Year, Nathan Patterson Academy Player of the Year, Steven Davis picked up the John Greig Achievement Award and Kemar Roofe Goal of the Season for his stunner from the halfway line against Standard Liege.
