Allan McGregor’s Rangers ban to continue into next season

Allan McGregor's red card against Hibs has left him suspended for the final two games of this season.

The Rangers goalkeeper misses matches against Celtic and Kilmarnock with Wes Foderingham set to fill in between the sticks.

And it has now been confirmed that the former Scotland No.1 will also miss the first clash of next season due to his red card for kicking out at Hibs’ Marc McNulty.

McGregor has been handed a three-game ban for his second violent conduct red card of the campaign. His first was given to him retrospectively after an incident with Aberdeen midfielder Lewis Ferguson.

The 37-year-old has been heavily criticised by his boss Steven Gerrard after the sending off in Sunday's 1-0 win over Hibs.

It was Rangers 12th red card of the season in all competitions and came as Alfredo Morelos returned from a four-game ban.

Ross McCrorie was forced to go in goals for the final five minutes of the match with Rangers having used all their subs.

The midfielder wasn't forced into any saves with a controversial drop ball helping him avoid any of the action.

A second ball had been thrown onto the pitch as Stevie Mallan had taken a corner, and referee Bobby Madden ordered a drop ball which Hibs didn't contest and Connor Goldson cleared up the pitch.
