Allan McGregor's hilarious quip as Rangers goalkeeper baffles Russian boss with x-rated unit of measurement

Given he played close to 150 games, it's fair to say that Allan McGregor 's time at Hull City was a success.

But it appears the Rangers goalkeeper may have struggled a bit with the culture shock of playing outside of Scotland.

Former team-mate David Marshall recounted a hilarious incident in which McGregor attempted to communicate with Russian manager Leonid Slutsky - in broad Glaswegian.

He told Open Goal : "Greegsy was there and he (Slutsky) used to have really technical meetings, so we'd be watching the big screen and the gaffer's on the laptop.

"He's like: 'ou have to be there, where do you think this player should be at this point?'.

"I remember Greegsy going: 'bit to the left'.

"He'd move it about a wee bit, and this guy struggled with language. Broken English and Russian.

"So the manager went: 'there?'. And Greegsy went: 'just a baw hair mair'.

"Even the English boys were like: '... a baw hair?'."

Slutsky lasted just 21 games in charge of Hull City, having previously worked only in Russia.

A promising goalkeeper himself, his playing career was cut short at the age of just 19 after he sustained a knee injury while trying to rescue a cat from a tree.
