Allan McGregor in Rangers injury scare as goalkeeper emerges as a doubt ahead of Hearts clash

Rangers could be dealt a further injury blow after Allan McGregor was pictured clutching his ankle in training.

The stopper appeared to be in pain during a training session at the Hummel Training Centre on Friday.

Steven Gerrard is already without captain James Tavernier and star striker Alfredo Morelos for the trip to Tynecastle to face Hearts.

Centre back Filip Helander and versatile attacker Greg Stewart are also out of the game.

And they could now also be without their first choice goalkeeper if McGregor's injury is serious enough to keep him out.

Gerrard didn't mention McGregor as a potential injury doubt in his pre-match press conference but the knock could have been picked up after media duties.

McGregor has been a vital player for Rangers in his 34 appearances this season and the blow would be softened by having Wes Foderingham as back up.

The Englishman has played just five times this season and has just one appearance since October.

That came in the 2-0 win over Stranraer in the Scottish Cup where he had nothing to do.
