Allan Campbell targets Rangers shock as Motherwell ace looks to take out 'frustration'

Allan Campbell says Motherwell must take the frustration of their defeat against St Mirren into their clash against Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday.

The midfielder says they’ll treat it just like any other game and will try to take three points back to Lanarkshire.

Campbell says he feels the Steelmen deserved to take something from the 1-0 defeat at home to St Mirren, and they’ll be working hard to put it right.

He said: “Beating Rangers would be a boost, but any game you win is, no matter who you’re playing against.

“Every opponent in this league is hard, whether it’s top of the table or bottom of the table, the games are always difficult and any win you get is always a bonus.

“We’re still in a decent position but you don’t think about that now, because we’ve just been beat here in a game we thought we should have won.

“We played well in the actual game, had a lot of chances, but the be-all and end-all is that we’re not taking the chances.

“We’re putting ourselves in good areas and we’re creating them, so that’s the positive – but at the end of the day if you don’t score goals you don’t win matches.

“I think we had about 19 chances in that game, we had a lot of chances to get level and win the game and I thought we did well in the majority of the game.

“The only positive is that we are creating chances, but we need to be more lethal in the box and kill games off.

“It’s a killer, but the only thing we can do is make sure we work hard in training in the week and try to pick ourselves back up.”

Motherwell follow their trip to Ibrox on Saturday with a midweek clash against Aberdeen at Fir Park, and Campbell knows they need to start picking up points again.

He said: “That’s football, the games come thick and fast and everybody’s tough in this league.

“We don’t really look at how anybody else is doing, we focus on ourselves, and we need to make sure we put in a better performance, try to work on what we’ve done wrong and improve on the things that we have done well – that’s all we can do, really.

“We’ve created a lot of chances in that game, it’s just frustrating that we’re not getting the goals and points that we want, but that’s football.

“It has a lot of highs and lows and we all just need to stay together and work hard, and the results will come.”
