PRAYAGRAJ: On a contempt petition, the Allahabad high court has issued notice to the chief executive officer (CEO) of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) Arun Veer Singh and five other officials, directing them to appear before the high court and explain why contempt proceedings not be initiated against them for alleged violation of its orders.
In his contempt petition, the petitioner, Rishi Goel, has alleged that these authorities had demolished his construction despite the orders passed by the writ courts of high court on July 14 and December 8, 2021 by which the demolition notice issued by the appellate authority was quashed.
The petitioner alleged that these authorities ignored the orders of the writ court and demolished the construction of the petitioner on March 29, 2022 at Jhajhar.
Observing that ‘prima facie a case of contempt is made out’, Justice Saral Srivastava directed to list this case on August 16, 2022 for the next hearing.
However, in its order dated April 8, the court made it clear that in case orders of the writ court is complied with by the next date fixed, the opposite parties may not appear in person and may file an affidavit of compliance through counsel.
