Can you help me get some sense out of Co-operative Energy. It is happy to take direct debits at the rate of one a month (and two in June), but doesn’t seem able to produce a bill.
I have included a history of my problem, which is akin to War and Peace.
I should add that phoning the company is a nightmare as you often have to hold for ages. Several times I’ve just given up and gone gardening. MC, Ramsgate
Co-operative Energy was the cheapest supplier several months ago and grabbed lots of new customers. For some reason the company decided to introduce a new billing system at the same time – which, as seasoned energy firm observers know, is a recipe for disaster. British Gas, npower, Scottish Power and EDF have all suffered customer service meltdowns after introducing new IT systems.
A spokesperson for Co-operative Energy has apologised and says it has resolved “the issue to your satisfaction”. It has also sent you £25 to make up for the inconvenience.
“Unfortunately, there have been a number of teething issues with managing bills and payments, which have prevented us from giving some of our customers a good experience. To improve our current position, we have increased our team of customer service advisers and are working around the clock to fix our system issues and return to the level of service our customers expect and deserve,” she says.
