All Volatile weapon mods in Destiny 2 Renegades and how to get them

Alongside multiple new weapons in Destiny 2 Renegades, there are also multiple new Volatile weapon mods to use on them. Volatile weapon mods have unique and often powerful effects, but are only available until the end of the season, similarly to Temporal Blast from The Edge of Fate.

Here are all the Volatile weapon mods available in Destiny 2 Renegades and how to get them.

In Renegades, a lot of Volatile weapon mods seem to be aimed at PvP, increasing aim down sight speed, stability, and handling. However, there are a few made specifically for PvE as well as for fighting Cabal. You can also take advantage of their anti-Champion capabilities so you won’t just rely on Artifact mods and subclass effects.

Here are all the Volatile weapon mods available during Destiny 2 Renegades so far:

  • Calm Amidst Chaos: After not taking damage for a short duration, this weapon gains significantly increased aim down sight speed, handling, and flinch resistance until the next shot is fired.
  • Kill Shot: Reloading after a final blow loads a high-powered round, causing the next hit to cause improved additional splash damage. Strong against Barrier Champions.
  • Opening Salvo: This weapon gains bonus range and deals more flinch at the start of combat for an improved duration. Strong against Unstoppable Champions.
  • Overpressured Munitions: This weapon gains improved bonus damage against Cabal targets.
  • Stay in the Fight: When your shields are broken, this weapon gains an improved period of increased stability and ammo generation.

You can apply these mods to any New Gear weapon (with the teal icon in the top left) in the game, including those from The Edge of Fate expansion. This means if you have a god roll Mint Retrograde or Yeartide Apex that aren’t available anymore, you can still use them and take advantage of the new mods.

How to get Volatile weapon mods in Destiny 2 Renegades

To get Volatile weapon mods in Destiny 2 Renegades, you need to complete Legendary Vanguard Orders. Vanguard Orders are a new version of bounties in the Seasonal Hub, with simple objectives like defeating combatants with a specific weapon type.

As you complete Vanguard Orders, there’s an increasing chance of you getting a Legendary Order, indicated by a bar below all active Orders. Only Legendary Vanguard Orders can get Lawless Weapon Mod Payout as a reward, granting you one of the Volatile weapon mods for completing them.

Keep in mind that not every Legendary Order has Lawless Weapon Mod Payout as a reward. You can use Glimmer to reroll an Order until you get one with the right rewards. However, even then, the Volatile mod reward isn’t guaranteed.
