PEAK is breaking records right now following the release of its highly anticipated Mesa update, which added a brand new biome, a bunch of items, tonnes of new badges to collect, and a handful of secrets to discover.
The release of the update a couple of days ago was marred by numerous bugs, particularly around an invisible wall at the top of the new desert biome, as well as many badges failing to unlock, despite players completing the associated tasks. Even so, that hasn't stopped the game from literally peaking with over 135,000 concurrent players in the past 24 hours, especially as multiple updates were made to the game in quick succession to deal with these day-one bugs and issues.
This represents PEAK's highest player count since its launch in June. The update has brought many fans back to the game, as Mesa's launch has nearly tripled its concurrents. The developers also put the game on sale during this time, which likely led to another influx of new players.
The Mesa update has been incredibly welcome, adding a lot of content to a game that already had much to sink your teeth into, all for a small price. Alongside a new biome that will switch out with another after the initial week in a rotation, we also got a new monster, a bunch of new secret areas to discover, new mechanics, new items, and new ways to have fun in this already gripping adventure.
Considering it only took two months for the first significant content drop, I'm hopeful that we will see another content offering over the year to keep players coming back to experience new things, and I would especially love to see new biomes and new challenges included in the future.
I also hope that PEAK releases on console soon, as I believe it would be a massive hit on the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation, and Xbox systems. This would allow more people to enjoy the game and play with their friends online, especially if we get crossplay.
For now, though, I can't wait to see what is in store for the future of PEAK.
