‘All things are on the table’ for Vikings at kicker in 2019

The Vikings have had more than their fair share of kicking woes through the years. And right now, they don’t have a kicker under contract for the 2019 season.

Will Minnesota bring back Dan Bailey? Another veteran kicker? Perhaps draft one, even after the Daniel Carlson debacle last year?

New special teams coordinator Marwan Maalouf said Thursday that all of those are possibilities.

“Right now all things are on the table. We’re starting to look at draft kickers, free agent kickers, and that’s something that I’ve had good luck with in the past,” Maalouf said. “We’ve always had good kickers where I’ve been and sometimes they haven’t had the best years as well, but we’ve always had options. I think the most important thing is to overturn every rock and find somebody that fits what we’re trying to do whether it’s a veteran or a young guy.”

There are some options for the Vikings in both free agency and the draft. With a team seemingly ready to win now, the Vikings can’t afford to miss at kicker again.
