Warning: Spoilers for the Ginny & Georgia season three finale ahead. If you haven’t watched yet, go get your shit together (lovingly), watch the show and come back later.
So, Ginny & Georgia season three finally landed on Netflix on this past week and — no surprises here — the drama in Wellsbury is still just as chaotic. Georgia’s murder trial, family implosions, and a last-minute pregnancy twist? Let’s break down what actually happened in that finale, with some fresh insight from the show’s creators.
Georgia’s murder trial: How did she get off?

Let’s not sugarcoat it: Georgia (Brianne Howey) did kill Tom Fuller (Vincent Legault). We saw it. Austin (Diesel La Torraca) saw it. The only person who didn’t see it coming was, apparently, the Wellsbury legal system. After spending most of the season in prison, on house arrest, and losing custody of her kids, Georgia’s fate came down to Austin’s testimony.
But instead of telling the truth, Austin accused his own dad, Gil (Aaron Ashmore), of killing Tom. This wild twist wasn’t just pulled out of thin air. As creator Sarah Lampert told Variety, “The groundwork for that was laid in season two. We realised that if we wanted a murder trial, which we did, Georgia would have to kill somebody in Wellsbury. That gave us the whole Cynthia (Sabrina Grdevich) x Tom plot, and then we wanted Austin to witness it.” The writers needed a fall guy, and Gil was always destined for that role.
Austin, Ginny, and the fallout

Austin’s lie might have saved Georgia, but it’s left him with a truckload of guilt and a fractured relationship with both his mum and Ginny (Antonia Gentry).
As showrunner Sarah Glinski explained, “Austin’s going to have some incredible guilt about what he did, and I think he is going to be angry at both his mum and sister for making him do it. Their relationship will be forever changed. That’s something we’ll explore going into season four.”
Ginny, meanwhile, has gone from anxious teen to full-blown mastermind. She orchestrated the cover-up, manipulated Cynthia, and basically ran the show. Glinski summed it up: “This is the first time that she takes control of her journey and her path to save her mum. And it’s hard not to have that power. And so we’ll see her continue to explore that for both good and potentially for less good.”
Mental health: Marcus, Maxine, and MANG

Ginny & Georgia has always been pretty honest about mental health, and season three was no exception. Marcus’ (Felix Mallard) struggles with depression and alcoholism were front and centre.
Lampert revealed that the team consults with psychologist Dr. Taji Huang and Mental Health America to make sure the show’s depiction is accurate: “Healing isn’t linear, and Marcus is still so young. So, what we did was work closely with Dr. Taji Huang, who has been our psychologist that we’ve consulted with since season one.”
Maxine’s (Sara Waisglass) journey, and the splintering of the MANG friend group, also got a realistic treatment. Lampert said, “Maxine is a character that many people can relate to because she has a big heart, but she’s her own worst enemy. Her greatest strength is that she cares so deeply for everyone around her. However, this season, we see that it’s also her greatest weakness.”
The final twist: Georgia’s pregnant (again)
Just when you thought things couldn’t get any more cooked, the finale drops a subtle bombshell: Georgia’s pregnant. Who’s the dad? Paul (Scott Porter) or Joe (Raymond Ablack) ? Even the show’s creator is keeping mum. But Lampert told Deadline, she’s open to changing her mind about the baby daddy, so expect more chaos in season four. (But also it needs to be Joe or else I will in fact riot.)
“I know whose baby she’s carrying,” Sarah said to Deadline. “But I went into the writer’s room this season and I said, ‘Here’s who the daddy is.’ Changed my mind. So it’s live wire in there. I’m telling you right now, I am open to being convinced otherwise.”
What’s next for Ginny & Georgia Season 4?
With Georgia’s mum and stepdad lurking, Ginny’s moral compass spinning, and Austin dealing with the fallout of his major courtroom lie (I smell a crash out coming), season four is shaping up to be another wild ride.
So there you have it! If you’ll excuse me I’ll be watching season three all over again over on Netflix.
