All the ways Meghan Markle and Prince Harry broke tradition with Baby Sussex's birth announcement

Throughout Meghan Markle's pregnancy, she and Prince Harry have very much done things their way.

Now, with the announcement in that Baby Sussex is a boy, it looks like this is very much still the case.

Not for them a town crier and fancy gilt easel outside of Buckingham Palace.

Instead, it's been something of a whirlwind...

Let's take a look at the how the world came to find out that Baby Sussex has finally made his debut.

Prince Harry praises Meghan as 'amazing' as he announces birth of son

Earlier this afternoon the news that Meghan Markle had gone into labour was, interestingly, not issued by the palace.

Around 1.45pm news came through that the  Duchess of Sussex had gone into labou r - and it came from Sky News.

Sky's Royal correspondent said: "It was in the early hours of this morning when the Duchess went into labour and the Duke was by her side."

Has Prince Harry just given a major clue about the royal baby's name?

Baby Sussex arrived at 5.26am weighing 7lbs 3oz - news which came courtesy of the SussexRoyal Instagram account who confirmed that they'd welcomed a baby boy.

Ever since the announcement that Meghan and Harry would be operating separately from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the creation of the @sussexroyal handle , there's been fierce speculation that the new parents would use Instagram to break the happy news.

Which they did - and it's a first for the Royal family .

It was Sky who were then on hand to film a tired-but-elated Harry making a touching statement, which is another first.

In his statement, Harry said: "I haven't been at many births.

"This is definitely my first birth - it was amazing, absolutely incredible.

"I'm so incredibly proud of my wife."
