All the upcoming Scottish independence events and protests in 2023

Events galore are in motion this year to make indyref2 a reality and we want to make sure they can be a success by getting as many people along as possible.

That is why we have created this list to keep everyone up-to-date. It will be updated constantly so keep checking in. If you or a group have an event, let us know at grassroots@thenational.scot

JANUARY

Tue 10 at 7pm: The State We’re In with Professor Richard Murphy jointly hosted by Oxford for Europe, Cambridge for Europe, and the Oxford European Association. Discussion about the “current economic malaise and what needs to be done about it”, with a Q&A. Location: Online. Tickets available here.

Sat 14 at 2pm: ALBA Party Special Assembly 2023 - Scotland's Way Forward. The event will be chaired by Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh and a panel of speakers will include the former First Minister, Alex Salmond, along with Neale Hanvey MP and Kenny MacAskill MP. Sat 21 at 7pm: SNP Atholl and Strathtay & Dunkeld branches Burns Supper. Speakers include Depute First Minister John Swinney and SNP President Michael Russell. Location: Mid-Atholl Hall in Ballinluig. Tickets available via katehowie@yahoo.co.uk

Sat 21 at 7.30pm: SNP Linlithgow Burns Night. Special Guests include Keith Brown MSP and Hannah Bardell MP. Location: Linlithgow Rose FC Social Club. Tickets available here.

Sat 28 at 7pm: SNP Govan branch Burns Supper. Speakers include First Minister Nicola Sturgeon. Location: GoGlasgow Urban Hotel on Paisley Road West. Tickets available here.

Sat 28 at 7.30pm: SNP Eastwood Burns Supper. Special guests to be announced. Location: Redhurst Hotel. Tickets available here.

Tue 31 at 5.30pm: Lights On rally and gig organised by Time for Scotland. Speakers include Alyn Smith MP, Jim Fairlie MSP, Janina Jetter from Europe for Scotland, and councillor Martha Mattos-Coelho. Musicians TBC. Location: Holyrood. Sign up for updates here.

February

Sat 4 at 7pm: SNP East Kilbride branch Burns Supper. Speakers include SNP President Michael Russell, MSP’s Neil Gray and Mairi McAllan. Location: Moncrieff Parish Church, Maxwellton Road. Tickets available here.

Fri 10: AyeFyne Q&A with The National and Common Weal. Location: Lochgilphead. More information to follow.

Sat 18: Scottish Independence Conference. All pro-independence parties have been invited to attend and active independence activists will be invited as delegates. Location: Online. Invite only.

Fri 24 - Sun 26: Ideas to Change the World weekend hosted by Popular Education Network. Guests will discuss people power and Scottish independence. It is described as “a weekend to take us all away from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives and the demands placed on us by our activism, to reflect on the state of the world today and Scotland's place in it”. Location: Crainlarich Youth Hostel. Tickets are available here.

Sat 25/Sun 26: Progress to Yes conference and Burns Supper. Speakers include Michael Russell, MSP Karen Adam, Gordon MacIntyre-Kemp, Kelly Given, and Gerry Hassan. Tickets are available here.

March

Sat 11 at 10am: International demonstration for Scottish independence near British Embassy hosted by Germans for Scottish Independence. Live music afterwards. Location: Pariser Platz, 10117 Berlin, Germany.

Sun 19: SNP Special Conference. A “democracy conference” for SNP members to deliberate on the detail of independence strategy. Location: Edinburgh International Conference Centre. Tickets TBC.

Fri 24 - Sun 26: Scotonomics Live. Economists and comedians will discuss Scotland's place in a globalised economy at the first economics festival to be held in Scotland. Location: Three venues across Dundee and online. Tickets available here.

April

May

Sat 6 at 11am: AUOB Glasgow March for Independence. Location: Kelvingrove Park to Glasgow Green.

June

Sat 24: AUOB Stirling March for Independence.

June 3 to July 2: The Declaration of Arbroath on display. It is cared for by the National Records of Scotland and is so fragile it can only be displayed occasionally in order to ensure its long-term preservation. Location: The National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.

July

Sat 29: AUOB Ayr March for Independence.

August

Sat 26: AUOB Isle of Skye March for Independence.

September

Sat 23: AUOB Falkirk March for Independence.

October

Sat 7: AUOB Edinburgh March for Independence.
