All the TV shows cancelled due to Covid fears leaving schedules blank

Multiple TV programmes have had to be cancelled in the lead up to Christmas amid Covid case fears.

Shows that were due to be filmed around the festive period have had to pause in a bid to prevent staff from catching the illness and ruining Christmas.

With the new Omicron variant causing cases to rise rapidly, many staff members are already off due to having to isolate.

New Year TV programmes have also been impacted by the pandemic, leaving bosses with the challenge of filling the empty schedules.

ITV in particular has had to cancel more than one show, leaving viewers confused as to what to watch instead.

Flagship programme Good Morning Britain has had to be removed from the ITV schedule despite originally being planned to go ahead through Christmas.

It was supposed to air from December 29th to 31st in the lead up to the new year.

However, there is still due to be a Christmas special episode but the others have been cancelled.

Presenters have also been asked to do their own makeup to try and avoid the infection spreading as much as possible.

A spokesperson from ITV told The Sun on Monday: "There is a special GMB Christmas Day show which airs from 7-9am.

"But due to the pandemic and to protect our teams, we have decided to give them an extended break.

"GMB will not broadcast next week, but will be back on air on Tuesday, 4 January 2022."

This Morning and Loose Women will also be absent over Christmas as well.

This week, This Morning has been replaced by re-runs of Rylan Clark's show Supermarket Sweep instead, leaving viewers furious.

One person took to Twitter to say: "Supermarket sweep at this time of the morning, madness."

While another fumed: "Can’t believe supermarket sweep was on itv this morning and not the grinch or somet. What has tv become."

Loose Women has also been removed from the run up to Christmas.

The BBC has had to make changes to their usual schedules as well.

The One Show has had to be axed for the time being, despite usually airing at 7pm between Monday and Friday, but being cancelled this week.

On their Friday night programme the show hosts confirmed that they wouldn't be making a return to our screens until the new year.

Channel 4 has also been impacted by the Covid crisis as Celeb's Go Dating's final trip had to be cancelled due to restrictions.

Filming for the E4 show took a turn for the worst as one of the stars taking part caught Covid so had to pull out.

Also due to them mixing and coming into contact with other people in the show, at least four others had to leave the programme.

Channel 4 has been dealt more than one blow as comedian Joe Lycett’s Christmas special also had to be axed.
