All the shops and supermarkets closing on Boxing Day 2020 including Aldi, Home Bargains and M&S

Spending time with family feels more important than ever this Christmas and many shops have decided to close on Boxing Day to give staff time off.

How you’ll be able to do your Christmas shopping will be different after some stores announced their temporary closure.

Since the Government announced that people can spend five days with their ‘Christmas bubble’ of three families, many retailers have decided to give staff time off over the festive season to reward them for their hard work this year.

Supermarket giants Aldi and M&S are among those who have made the decision to close their doors on December 26, while rivals Sainsbury’s and Morrisons will remain open.

M&S was planning to open around 200 stores on Boxing Day but has since changed its mind, announcing all its stores will close on December 26.

Home Bargains, which remained open throughout lockdown, is closing stores at the earlier time of 5pm on Christmas Eve and will remain closed on Boxing Day so staff can ‘enjoy the break with their loved ones’.

Many other retailers have followed suit, including Pets at Home and Specsavers.

Here are all the stores which will remain closed on Boxing Day:

  • M&S
  • Home Bargains
  • Aldi
  • Wickes
  • The Entertainer
  • Waitrose
  • Asda
  • Homebase
  • Pets at Home
  • John Lewis
  • Poundland

We’ll update this list as more retailers make announcements.
