All the waste and recycling centres currently open in Leeds

Five recycling centres in Leeds have reopened for essential use during lockdown.

Leeds City Council has opened sites in Kirkstall, Meanwood, Middleton, Pudsey and Seacroft.

The sites will be open seven days a week with extended opening hours from 8am to 8pm to help ensure there are as many slots as possible.

Rules have been put in place to protect the public and the staff such as anyone arriving at a site without their Leeds Resident Permit may be refused entry without it.

The rules by the council also includes that only Leeds residents can visit the sites, people must keep a two-metre distance from others and people cannot leave their car until they are parked in a bay.

They state: “You must use the car you booked with.

“You must not bring a trailer or a van, cars only.

“You must not bring anyone else with you unless you have a blue badge.

“Keep your car windows closed.”

The council has also stated they will only accept items that could cause harm at your home, cause a fire risk or attract vermin.

They are also accepting commercial waste at their Kirkstall site and this does not require a booking.

There will be a small charge for items such as rubble, ceramics, plasterboards and tyres starting from £1.50.

Leeds City Council is working on opening their other centres in Wetherby and Yeadon which they hope will be taking bookings from next week.
