Cardiff is a city known for its culinary scene and its nightlife.

The capital is full of top bars and restaurants and it seems like there's something new opening every week.

But despite the flourishing scene, 2019 has seen a number of well-loved and popular businesses close during the first quarter of the year.

These are the bars, restaurants and pubs that have closed so far in 2019.

The popular bar and live music venue on Windsor Place closed down following a "massive increase" in business rates.

They added that rent increases and a change in consumer spending habits also contributed to the closure.

"It's the start of something different, and we leave with a heavy heart, but we may be back one day."

The business itself is continuing and the scotch eggs will be available at Cardiff's farmers market and a number of shops across the city, including Pettigrew Bakery and Penylan Pantry.
