All the places Ryanair will resume flights to from Bristol Airport from July 1

Ryanair has announced it is resuming flights from Bristol Airport to a host of destinations from July 1.

The Ireland-based airline had cut 99 per cent of its flights because of the coronavirus pandemic lockdown, but will resume around 40 per cent of those flights to destinations across Europe from the start of next month.

But there is a question mark over whether or not people will be allowed to travel to those destinations, and what the coronavirus restrictions will be like in the countries when they get there.

At present, countries like Greece and Spain are looking to resume allowing visitors, but not from Britain - because the UK still has not managed control the spread of the Covid-19 virus, with the daily death toll still the highest in Europe, and the number of new infections every day still estimated in the thousands.

And there is also the question of what happens when you return to the UK from another destination in Europe - with anyone coming into the UK having to quarantine for 14 days, whether they're from abroad or a British citizen.

But Ryanair is currently selling tickets for flights it is beginning to schedule from Bristol Airport, albeit with a reduced capacity and most destinations served by flights once or twice a week.

The Dublin-based airline will, from July 1, fly to and from the following destinations from Bristol Airport:

Portugal

Faro

Spain

Barcelona (Girona), Ibiza, Palma (Majorca), Seville, Malaga, Alicante, Valencia, Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Lanzarote.

The coronavirus pandemic has had a substantial impact on the travel industry, with countries closing their borders and airlines furloughing their staff.

Thousands of people have had their holidays cancelled as the FCO has advised Brits against all but essential foreign travel for the foreseeable future.

What are Ryanair's social distancing rules?

All passengers and cabin crew will be required to wear face masks while on the plane and in the terminal buildings.

Ryanair crew members will wear face masks.

Passengers are being urged to check in online, and take their temperature at home before setting off. There may also be temperature checks at the airports.

Passengers will be asked to scan their own boarding pass at the gate to limit contact with airline staff.

Only wrapped snacks and drinks will be served on board, and queueing for the toilets will not be allowed. The seatbelt signs will remain on for the entire flight.

Planes are being disinfected on a daily basis, and are fitted with filtration systems.

Can I go on holiday?

At the moment the FCO advises Brits against all but essential foreign travel, which means that your travel insurance will not be valid if you choose to go on holiday.

This advice may change, so you should keep an eye on the latest updates.

If you want to book a holiday, you should check the cancellation policy so you know your options if you have to cancel.
