All the places and businesses banned from reopening on July 4

Boris Johnson addressed the House of Commons yesterday to confirm the two metre distancing rule will now be eased to one metre and to also give details on what businesses were allowed to reopen.

From July 4, the Prime Minister said businesses including pubs, bars and restaurants could reopen as well hairdressers as long as they are "Covid-secure".

During the announcement, he also stated businesses within the hospitality industry must reopen with table service only and a minimum number of staff in to help reduce contact.

While the announcement is good news for some businesses across Liverpool, who have been waiting since March to find out when their doors could reopen, there was disappointment for those working in gyms, soft play areas and more.

Speaking at the House the Commons, Boris Johnson said: “Close proximity venues such as Nightclubs, soft play areas, indoor gyms, swimming pools and spas will need to, I’m afraid, remain closed for now as will bowling alleys and water parks.”

He did add that task forces would be set up to help these venues become "Covid-secure" and open as soon as possible.

There is much confusion surrounding the beauty industry with hairdressers given the green light to reopen on July 4 but not nail salons. There is currently no clarification on other beauty treatments either.

He also promised to work with the art industry to help choirs and theatres resume live performances as soon as possible.

While sports and recreational sports are allowed to be played with members of your own household, changing rooms must remain closed.

All the places banned from reopening on July 4:

  • Nightclubs
  • Casinos
  • Bowling alleys and indoor skating rinks
  • Indoor play areas including soft-play
  • Spas, nail bars and beauty salons
  • Massage, tattoo and piercing parlours
  • Indoor fitness and dance studios, and indoor gyms and sports venues/facilities
  • Swimming pools and water parks
  • Exhibition or Conference Centres - where they are to be used for exhibitions or conferences, other than for those who work for that venue.
